From a small purpose built 3×3 shed in our backyard to a large scale container urban farm operation. Having produced premium microgreens for over 2 years, we are now once again expanding into larger facilities accommodating our nutritional powder production.

Why Wellington, New Zealand

Being a highly populated hospitality area and capital of New Zealand, we believed starting here was the right choice and we are glad we did. Now it serves as the main base for our microgreen nutrition operation.

Our Production Facility

Based in Miramar, Wellington we produce our powders in a highly sanitized, food safe environment. Every member at Micro Nutrition is trained to uphold the highest standards set out by the company. 

Microgreens commercially dried & turned

We dehydrate our microgreens by using a commercial food dehydrator. By removing all the moisture we can retain all the nutrients in their purest form and preserve, expanding the shelf life of our dehydrated and later crushed microgreens.

The dehydrator works by circulating air at temperatures ranging from around 40°C to 75°C. Because microgreens are so delicate they require less time to fully dehydrate than mature vegetables. Our heat range is high enough to remove the moisture from the greens while low enough to fully retain the nutrients and minerals. 

Once fully dehydrated we pack the greens in air tight containers ready for powder production. 

Our microgreens before dehydration are thoroughly checked for any inconsistencies and all our equipment cleaned and sanitized. This way we maintain our high standard of operation and guarantee a premium product.

Into the finest New Zealand Microgreen Powders

Once our microgreens are dehydrated we run a precheck for any remaining moisture. If any moisture is present, we reintroduce the greens back into the dehydrator until completely dry. We use these strict precautionary measures to ensure we retain consistency. 

We use a commercial grinding mill turning the dried micros into pure powder. This powder is so finely crushed, it’s perfect for juices, smoothies and meals. We can currently produce up to 50kgs of powder per week, per variety and supply them in 1kg and 5kg sealed bags.

If kept sealed, our powders have a shelf life of 6 months. Once opened we recommend using within 3 months.
